What business recycling bin sizes are available?
Commingled recycling bins are available in 240L, 660L and 1100L rear-lift sizes, giving most businesses plenty of room to scale up. Organic food waste bins come in 120L and 240L sizes only — smaller than commingled bins, since food waste is significantly heavier per litre and larger bins would be too heavy to safely lift and empty.
What can I put in business recycling bins?
In commingled (yellow) bins, you can recycle bottles, cans, plastics and packaging together in one bin — no need to separate them. These bins come in 240L, 660L and 1100L sizes, suiting most offices, retail stores and light industrial sites.
In organic food waste bins, you can dispose of food scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags and other compostable kitchen waste — ideal for cafes, restaurants, hotels and hospitality businesses. These bins are available in 120L and 240L sizes, kept smaller than commingled bins because food waste is significantly heavier per litre.

What cannot go in a business recycling bin?
To avoid contamination and additional charges, please don’t place the following in your recycling bins: general waste, liquids or wet waste, hazardous materials, plastic bags, polystyrene, or food waste in the wrong bin (commingled or cardboard).
Heavily contaminated items like greasy cardboard, food-soiled packaging, or soft plastics should also stay out of your commingled and cardboard bins — even small amounts of contamination can cause an entire load to be rejected at the recycling facility and diverted to landfill instead.

Do I need to separate different types of recycling?

Commingled (yellow) bins are for bottles, cans and hard plastics only — no soft plastics, no bags (items should be loose, not bagged), and no food waste. Small amounts of cardboard can go in, but a dedicated cardboard bin is better and cheaper if you generate cardboard regularly.
Organic food waste bins are for food scraps only — no bags, no packaging, and no other waste types mixed in.
