Put all of your non-recyclable and non-organic waste that is generated in your kitchen in the Kitchen Separation box to ensure that all of your kitchen waste is recycled.

Please choose the size box you’d like to purchase. When you receive your box fill it with the appropriate waste streams. Once full ship your box back to TerraCycle using the pre-paid shipping label which is already affixed to your box. When we receive your box, we’ll safely recycle all of the collected materials.

Please note we will not accept household hazardous waste such as pressurized canisters, pesticides, oil-based paint or medical sharps, organics, broken glass, bio-medical waste, soiled diapers or expired medication. In addition, we also will not accept any item that is classified as sharps, flammable, reactive, corrosive, ignitable, radioactive, toxic, infectious, or pathogenic. Do not include: include organics, broken glass, bio-medical waste, soiled diapers, expired medication, pesticides, paint, pressurized canisters, and medical sharps in any of our boxes.

The collected waste is mechanically and/or manually separated into fabrics, metals, fibers, and plastics. Fabrics are reused, upcycled or recycled as appropriate. Metals are melted so they may be recycled. The fibers (such as paper or wood based products) are recycled or composted. The plastics undergo extrusion and pelletization to be molded into new recycled plastic products.

What can I recycle with the Kitchen Separation Zero Waste Box?

You can separate and send in food scraps (vegetable peelings, coffee grounds, tea bags), paper towels, pizza boxes, aluminium foil, and aerosol cans—anything that normally goes into your kitchen’s green bin or recycling.

What items are not accepted?

Do not include glass containers, plastic bottles, liquids, grease-soaked cardboard, batteries, or medical/sharp waste. Only the specified kitchen waste streams are accepted.

How do I prepare and send back the box?

Fill the box with separated kitchen waste, seal it securely, and drop it at any Australia Post outlet using the prepaid label already affixed to the box.
